my wife's sexy fruit fetish

my wife is sexy. and she loves the fruit from our orchard. the whole family's into the different chapters of summer...cherries in early july followed by august peaches/nectarines/apricots, then apples and pears as we drift off into fall.
golden raspberry with it's two harvests, one early preview crop followed by the real deal later in august and september when the berries take on more intense flavor and sugars. blueberry, currant and strawberry all summer long. late september himrod grapes...first harvest year for our orchard. still waiting for the first kiwi harvest. and the figs are still small...maybe in october.

so where does 'fetish' come into the story? well i guess it doesn't really. other than over summery cocktails yesterday afternoon a seattle times blogger mentioned that she and her fellow bloggers compete by interjecting sexual references to their blog titles. 'lots of hits if you say 'tits', she explained. so i've joined in.

back to my blog cover photo. the asian pears on the left really seem well suited to the coolness of the san juan summer. they literally drip nectar. the smaller green pears, often muddled with little brown spots, are also delicious. they come from one very productive old tree. well pruned long ago. i just annually follow the same cuts established by some talented pruner decades ago. curious about the pear species i took samples to the local agriculural extension a few years back. the gal pondered the leaf and fruit for a moment and confidently declared it to be 'orcas pear'. not so, evidently. i later bought several orcas pear tree starts and it's excellent, but it's the big rosy red ones seen in the picture.
